The wedding, held for our cousin Brenda's daughter Denise, ignited a sense of nostalgia as I recalled our family's Thanksgivings at Brenda’s house, nestled near a cozy stone fireplace.

We checked into the Hotel Ballast, beautifully positioned alongside the scenic Cape Fear River. From our hotel room, the view of the Battleship North Carolina served as a reminder of the town's storied past. Despite the forecast predicting rain on Saturday – a 100% chance, to be exact! – the charm of Wilmington shone through. The rain may have dampened our plans to explore, but it didn't dampen our spirits.

Before the rain arrived, my cousin Lauren and I took full advantage of the gap in the weather, embarking on a delightful walking tour of historic downtown Wilmington. As evening approached, we joined the welcome party at the wedding venue, but not without a sweet stop at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. The strawberry-flavored treat was a delicious pick-me-up before diving into the wedding festivities!

The much-anticipated wedding ceremony saw its share of joyful chaos, including bustling flower boys who brought smiles and laughter as they tossed petals down the aisle. Brenda, with her elegant dress, radiated joy as she walked down the aisle to join her partner TJ.
