On June 10, 2026, the foundation will host its 10th annual benefit at the New York Athletic Club, paying tribute to legends and advocates who have significantly impacted gymnastics and youth development. Honoring Champions and Visionaries This year’s benefit will honor four prestigious individuals: Li Li Leung, Geoffrey Canada, Herbert Berger, and sisters Asta & Ida Lowe. Each honoree has traversed unique paths, contributing significantly to the gymnastics community and beyond. Li Li Leung will receive the “Leadership Award” for her transformative role during her tenure at USA Gymnastics, which included navigating the organization through turbulent times. Geoffrey Canada will be recognized with the “Simone Biles Give-Back Award” for his exceptional advocacy in education reform, benefiting countless children through the Harlem Children’s Zone. The Impact of Community and Coaching Wendy Hilliard, founder and CEO of WHGF, reflects on the importance of community support in nurturing young athletes. Hilliard, who was the first Black rhythmic gymnast to represent the U.S. internationally, established the foundation in 1996 with a vision to make gymnastics accessible to urban youth.
